Mike d‘Abo
Former lead vocalist with Manfred Mann and composer of ever-popular hits Build Me Up Buttercup and Handbags and Gladrags, Mike d’Abo first met Dik in 1984 when recording at Millstream, Dik’s studio in Cheltenham. Together they founded The Mighty Quintet, a 60s party band featuring Mike’s Manfred Mann hits as well as his own compositions. The other three members of The Mighty Quintet are Steve Degutis (Guitar), Simon Currie (Sax) and Owen Howell (Drums).
In 2000 Dik was invited to tour Australia and New Zealand with The Manfreds (Paul Jones, Tom McGuinness. Mike Hugg and Mike D’Abo plus drummer Martin Wild).
Later that year Dik toured with Mike as part of The Beat Goes On.
