From some vampire lawyer just doing what he’s told

NEW CAR

Started out with the intention
Of keeping all those vows you made
But you were craving the attention

Thoughts of caution went unheeded

CONNECTED

Suddenly from nowhere after oh so many years
Like a revelation your silent face appears
Bringing back such memories – sweet summer souvenirs
Thoughts of times that I had long neglected
Thoughts of things that make me feel connected

Is it you or just somebody that I need to hold tonight?
Let us melt into this moment – I just need to hold you tight
And does it really matter if it’s wrong or if it’s right?
This is not a situation we selected
But for now I need to feel connected

Am I simply clinging to a fragment of the past?
Clutching at a moment that was never meant to last?
Or reaching out for something that was moving much too fast?
It’s a feeling that was wholly unexpected
But for now I need to feel connected

I will wake up in the morning with this puzzle in my head

But you have stirred such feelings that I thought so long were dead
For a way of life I long ago rejected
